Bentley's Birthday! Part 2!

Okay, so if you know much about me, you would know that I couldn't let the whole icing issue rest. They say third times a charm. Well, the icing tasted great, but it was really tight and hard to spread. Thankfully, I was making a cake for a two year old! He really enjoyed the cake!
Some last minute decorations:

The cake: Notice how the sand over takes the waves!

Little Einsteins: Pat pat pat... blast off.

Bentley's Birthday!

YAY! Today is Bentley's 2nd birthday! Time is going by way too fast. I just finished baking him a Wacky/ Depression Cake because it doesn't have any milk in it! I hope that he enjoys it. The frosting turned out okay. I don't have a knack for frosting... but I really don't care... so I probably won't do anything about it :)... I digress!

Anyway! What a big boy. He is such a help around the house. He knows where the garbage is, where the dirty clothes go.... and how to slather his sister in Vaseline when I'm not looking :) (We had a fun morning! wink**wink**) He is starting to talk more and copy a lot of our words. It's neat to watch him put things together. For instance, when he connects a word with an object, like fire truck. He knows the word and is excited one he hears or sees one.

He's so busy and quick. Yesterday, he pressed the alphabet button on his Leapfrog fridge toy and ran around in circles in the kitchen. It seems like he is everywhere all at once and sure to be into something.

It's funny the way his mind processes things. I have a willow angel that sits on the table by our front door, but Bentley doesn't like it there. He always puts it on the bookcase in the spare bedroom by the other willow angel. It's like he doesn't want them to be lonely.

He also goes around telling us what belongs to whom. All day long, "Mommy's, Daddy's, Baby's," he's just started adding Bentley's. It's really cute. Last night as I folded clothes, he told me who's clothes I was folding and he got them right! Clever boy!

Well, I could go on and on but I really need to get going! Hopefully, I can get on again today and update about Marseille! She is now 6 months old!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BENTLEY!!!! We love you sweet boy and are so grateful to God for blessing us with you :) Love, Daddy, Mommy, and Marseille!

Happy 27th Birthday, Danny!

Today is Danny's 27th birthday. I really wanted to do something special for him. So, I surprised him with 27 different things. From special coupons, to encouragement, a love letter, and a cd with songs that hold special memories for us. For each of these type of ideas I tried to come up with seven things, because he was born on the seventh. Example: He loves candy, so I bought seven different kinds of candy. I have also been working on a painting for him and Bentley and I did a surprise photo shoot with Kelli Naisang! One of the 27 things was a post on my blog!

Happy Birthday, Danny!
Yay! I'm so excited to be able to share another birthday with you. We have lots of memories already! The first birthday that we spent together, we went out for pizza and ice cream. I dripped my ice cream everywhere -- sadly not much has changed! I hope that this birthday brings many fond memories too!

Sweet husband, you are my greatest earthly treasure. I love being your wife and helpmate in life. You make my job very easy! Thank you for the way that you love and serve Bentley, me and soon Marseille. You are growing so much in your leadership and love for us.

I pray that this year will be very fruitful for you and that you will be able to look back at your next birthday and be amazed how God has changed you and used you for His glory.

Enjoy your special day, my love!
Love, Nikki : )

Yay! Bentley is one today!

Sorry everyone! It has been a crazy month. Between the three of us we have been sick about eight times and it isn't over yet! I went to the doctor on Monday and am on antibiotics for bronchitis and I will be bringing Bentley to the doctor tomorrow since he woke up sick yesterday.

Well, I can't believe it today our little boy is one! I can't believe how fast time is flying. Here are some of his favorite things to do:
1. Whine - he's mastered this :)
2. Mimic us - coughing, sneezing, throwing up... really anything.
3. Eating, eating, eating. The boy can eat.
4. Getting excited when his Daddy comes home.
5. Playing with toys, usually not the way they were intended to be played with.
6. Growl like a lion, which he thinks is a dog.
7. Dogs - our neighbors dog barks a lot and as soon as Bentley hears her, he goes crazy saying, "dog, dog, dog" or he will do this if we see a dog in person or on tv.
8. Music - he loves to dance and can usually find the beat of the music.
9. Give us kisses - he likes to kiss us and he will rub my arm or belly, it's very sweet.
10. Throw toys over his play yard fence or crib.
11. Waving - he'll even wave with his thumb in his mouth.
12. Bathtime - he loves to splash around.
13. He LOVES to touch the emergency handle that hangs from the garage door opener.
14. Peek a boo is a favorite pastime

Overall, he's been a great baby! We are so thankful that God spared he life and has allowed him to grow up and be such a wonderful addition to our family. Life is not the same with him, but we can't imagine life without him. I can't believe how different things are from last year at this time. I can honestly say that I am thankful for the suffering that we went through because God proved himself sovereign and faithful and has made us so grateful for the life that he has given to us. There is no other way to get through trials, but by the grace of God. We can say that with true conviction because we with out a doubt had God's all suffient grace on us and were so thankful for it.

Bentley, Happy Birthdy! We love you so much and are so thankful to be celebrating your first birthday!!

My 25th Birthday!

Well, yesterday was my birthday and it was one of the best ones ever! It started off Tuesday night when Danny and I dropped Bentley off at a friend's house and we went to California Dreaming and Coldstone for ice cream! It was so good and we were so full! On my actual birthday, a friend from care group invited me over for a gluten free lunch and German Chocolate cake. It was soooooooo good. I am addicted to what she served for lunch. It was a chicken, red potato, and asparagus warm salad with balsamic vinegar and basil. It was very good and the cake was great too. It's huge and Danny won't eat it because it has nuts on it so I'll have to freeze it. Oh well, more for me. It was made with brown rice flour and you can't even tell! My care group sang "Happy Birthday" to me last night. Today, I have another friend taking me out for lunch today. God had really blessed this birthday! I even got a card from Bentley! I can't believe how different my life is this year. Not only am I a mother but I have a deeper love for my Savior, my husband, my family and my home. God has richly blessed my life, and my birthday was a little taste of heaven!
