Today's Moment

Like I said, I really want to capture these funny moments. So here is another one that happened this morning.

Bentley was going through Danny's hats, an everyday occurrence. Danny happened to be in the closet with him and got down his "Indian Jones" hat. He put it on for Bentley and Bentley smiled. Then Danny put it on me, and Bentley kept saying over and over, "That WEIRD!, Daddy's hat!" It was so funny. :)

Yesterday, Bentley was dancing on the this singing lion toy watching me cook dinner :)

Capturing the Moments

I've been wanting to do this for a long time, and I have a second to capture a little moment in our house.

Bentley and I have special phrase for each other. It's, "Bentley, guess what?!... I love you." Well, he caught on to this very quickly and all I have to say is "Bentley, guess what?!" and he says, "I love you!" We say this to each other at least 20 times a day... that is not an exaggeration!

Well, I just got both Bentley and Marseille up from their afternoon naps and they are eating a snack. I went to turn some music on and Bentley said to Marseille, "Guess what, baby?! I love you!" Awww!! So sweet! It melts my heart! I love watching them be sweet with each other!

A New Challenge

After moving our couch and seeing the ridiculous stack of magazines and recipes I decided something had to be done. Our couch is moved once a month for band practice and I don't want to have to keep schlepping the magazines around. So, in a two day frenzy I organized all of the recipes that I have been wanting to try in to binders. These binders are broken up into meats, breads, desserts, etc. Then there is a binder that says "Tried and True". So, here is my challenge-- sort of Julie and Julia style-- I want to see how long I can cook dinner with out repeating a recipe. So far I have gone 22 days. This doesn't include the week vacation we just went on.

My goal is to find new staples and to have a cookbook together full of family recipes for the kids when they get older. (I'm always dreaming about things I want for them when they leave!)

Want to know what has been cooking in our house? I'm trying to be good about taking pictures, so the family cookbook will have pictures, but sometimes I forget!
This is not in order:
Ravioli -- frozen -- soon I'll learn to make these homemade :)
Tortellini-- frozen
Taco Salad -- homemade taco seasoning
Enchiladas -- good but not best
Stuffed Cabbage -- definitely the best I've ever made, recipe from Taste of Home
Homemade Pizza -- Homemade dough and sauce
Little Caesars Pizza -- band practice :)
Stromboli -- homemade dough and sauce
Mexican Pizza -- homemade dough
Rolled Flank Steak -- not one I'd make again.
Nacho Chicken Bake -- take it or leave it
Eggs Benedict -- need to learn how to make Hollandaise, mine didn't turn out very good -- loved poached eggs!
Spaghetti and Meatballs
Hamburgers -- B2G2 from Earthfare
Rotisserie Chicken -- Walmart -- after parenting class on Sunday, always a winner :)
Hot Dogs -- free from Earthfare -- Memorial Day
Steak and Potatoes
Beef Stroganoff
Chicken, Broccoli and Rice Casserole
Orzo Stuffed Peppers
Chicken and Spinach Calzones -- homemade dough and sauce
Steak tacos/ burritos -- homemade tortillas and pico de gallo - delish :)

It's been fun to eat new things and to make so many things from scratch. I LOVE making dinner from scratch. It seems like such an accomplishment and when it tastes good-- like homemade tortillas-- it makes the messy kitchen worth it!!

Mother's Day picture :)

For Mother's Day I decided to be "that mom" and make coordinating outfits for me and Marseille. The next day Kelli took some pictures for us! Here is a sneak peak. Check out her new photography blog for more pictures. There are a few that she didn't post that I will, once I get my hands on them...

The girl can find trouble!

H-A-M!

He loves to copy his daddy!

She can pull up to standing and take steps the the side. Not quite cruising yet!

Bentley loves to push Marseille around (in a good way).

He loves to play with dried beans.

A trip to the zoo.

A little learning here and there!

Bentley loves pancakes. He took the whole stack and put them on his plate!

She plucked some of my basil and tried it. Didn't seem interested in that either!

Bentley put his alligator hat on Marseille, she didn't seem to mind. Maybe we have another hat wearer in the house!
